TC is a great deli. I have been going there for many years now and they know my name and always have tasty sandwiches.

Just took three friends for their first sandwich at T&C two of us got whole sandwiches, two got half. When we were done the halvers wanted to go back and get the other half of their sandwich. 2 chicken salads, 1 turkey and 1 roast beef all excellent, all fresh, just the way you like them! Good price, good selection, good people!

A friend recommended this joint to me so I went in with an open mind. The bread on my sandwich was somewhat stale and the chicken in my soup was a little tough. The taste of both was fine, but nothing that makes me have any urge to go back. My thoughts after eating the meal were, "if you are going to open run a sandwich place, you have to do something, ANYTHING, to make yourself stand out from the sandwich crowd." At the end of the day, there are other sandwich places that do much better.

If the hours of operation were more friendly to my schedule, I might eat here every day. Unfortunately they are only open M-F from 8-5. I think they might close at 4:30 on Friday. I am at the other end of the valley during those hours so I have to strategically plan my visit. The sandwiches here are your standard sandwiches, but they are prepared so much like you would make them at home, but they are much better than I am. I'm sure most everyone knows my love of the turkey with avocado and they don't skimp on anything. Excellent quality meats, cheeses, and vegetables. I love the turkey and the avocado is mashed instead of sliced so it doesn't slide all over the sandwich. The people are also very friendly and it's a old school neighborhood market complete with groceries and fresh fruits and veggies.

My husband brought me to Town & Country after his co-workers had continuously raved about it. I often hear stories about what some of these dudes consider tasty... so I was nervous. The nervousness increased when we pulled up to the place. The curb (lack of) appeal doesn't stop at the curb. Ohh it continues right on in to the building where you stand in the middle of an aisle with every possible beverage option on your right, and your run of the mill gas station candy and chips on the left. Annnnd then, you get to the counter. The counter can be distracting, it's pretty much an old man's refrigerator where he has taped all sorts of political jokes and rants and comic strips and weirdness all over, except it's not his home's refrigerator. The counter separates you from 3 or 4 women that are highly efficient and highly skilled sandwich making ninjas. The half size sandwich is perfectly sized and no topping is skimped on. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. The soups are on par with the sandwiches and pairing a cup with a half of a sandwich is the perfect combination. The food itself deserves 5 stars, but the ambiance and lack of indoor seating takes it down a notch.

If you are in South Salt Lake do yourself a favor and stop by Town & Country market. It's a quaint little mom-and-pop shop that has many items for lunch and snacking. They have a sandwich counter in the back that makes some of the tastiest sandwiches I have found. I am particularly fond of their smoked turkey and avocado sandwich. They have many sandwiches to choose from that you may top with whatever toppings you like. Some cost a little more than the ones that comes free on your sandwich, but everything is listed on the menus at the counter. A multitude of cheeses will keep you smiling. They mix their mayo and mustard together, so if you are like me and are not a fan of mustard ask for mayo only. At the sandwich counter they also have homemade soups. They differ every day, and sometimes they go fast. Generally you have five to choose from every day. Once they are gone, you are out of luck. In addition to the sandwich counter they typically have fresh fruit and many snacks to choose from. They have a fountain for beverages, a few different coolers with beverages, and they even have an ice cream machine. In the mood for chips? Forget about it! An entire wall devoted to snack size and large bags of chips. Cookies, gum, treats, yogurt, eggs, pickles, macaroni salad, and jerky are just a few of the eclectic treats you will find at this place. The staff at the counter are pretty funny! They keep comics hung on the wall for you to read while you wait for the sandwiches. They're fast, usually polite, and friendly. If you have a large sandwich order for the office I recommend calling ahead they will have all of the sandwiches made when you arive. They even put them in a box for easy carrying. The two men who run the front register own the shop and I believe our brothers. They are always friendly even when I run into them at Sam's Club when they're stocking up for the day. The shop generally has a daily or weekly special that they run. It maybe tamales, meatball sandwich, smoked turkey, or a special soup. They are generally yummy and worth a try. The lunch hours are busy so expect a small wait typically. The wait is generally not too long and if you are up for a good sandwich it is worth it. Can we talk about the bread for the sandwiches for a minute? Of course we can... This is my review. I love this bread. It is thickly sliced, soft in the middle. Yet firm enough to hold a well adorned sandwich. It is purchased locally, not made in the shop. But if you ask they'll tell you where they get it. I'm a big fan of their wheats, seven grain, although also cheat every once in a while and get the softest, tastiest white bread around. This place is great! It's charming, it's quaint, it's good. Do yourself a favor and stop by grab yourself a sandwich.

This is an awesome place to get a great sandwich for a good price. My work colleagues and I will go here at least once a week. You walk in and go up to the counter, tell a person what you want, they make it right there in front of you, wrap it, than you pay and leave or stay at one of their 3 picnic tables in the front. From outside you might not enter it, but do - it will be worth your time!

Really good "homemade" sammiches with any variety you can think of at a decent price. They have frozen yogurt with a different flavor every day. Sometimes they'll have a warm meal from meatball sandwiches to pot roast but their cold sandwiches and soup are the reason to go. Just a nice, home town feel with a great variety for lunchtime.

Folks, I know good sandwiches if fact I work at Feldman's Deli so I really know sandwiches. I fell in love with this place as soon as I pulled up! Super quaint you can tell the team working there really cares and is well taken care of I had a HUGE half a club sandwich with turkey ham and avocado for $4.59 you can't beat that with a stick and the service was really fast I will be back this week

T & C is a good place to grab a huge sandwich, for a small price. They use fresh ingredients and good bread that' baked same-day. I've never had anything here that knocked my socks off, but I've also never been disappointed. The service is fast and efficient, even when there's a line out the door at lunchtime. It's cheaper than the fast sandwich chains that dominate the area, and it's about 1,000% better than any of them.

In South Salt Lake and want an alternative to greasy fast food? Check out the sandwiches at Town & Country Market. It's the kind of place that neighbors and workers in the immediate area know about, but nobody else does. Which is a shame, but it keeps the lines down. Their deli sandwiches may be my favorite in Salt Lake City -- not sub-style (Groves Market is the place for those), but on great bread. I always get marble rye, but they've got whole wheat, honey wheat, white, pumpernickel...a lot of different kinds. They have all the usual varieties of meats and cheeses and toppings you'd get at any other deli sandwich shop. It's best to eat your sandwich immediately--at the picnic tables outside, in your car, back in your office--the toppings tend to soak into the bread quickly if you don't. I usually get a half sandwich instead of a whole--they're hefty enough that's enough for me. It is in a small grocery store, so there are a lot of options to get with your meal; the service is friendly, and that smalltown atmosphere in the market is very appealing. I eat lunch here at least once a month.

This place is consistent, friendly and fast! These people bust their butts to get the orders out on time and are a GREAT place to order for lunch meetings. They always have it ready when I get there, it's always correct and they always take it out to my car. This is a family owned business that truly cares about the product and service they provide. Support local business and give these guys a try, they put Subway to shame!

Healthy choices, fresh and great sandwich choices. I would highly recommend trying their soup and sandwiches Make sure to tell super Dave's dad hello, he owns the place and is always there to meet all his customers (Dennis)

I've rocked through more of their menu and they never disappoint (mostly). I had the tamales the other day and I'd put them within the best 2 or 3 I've ever had, which was amazingly surprising, but so incredibly delicious (thanks for that, Haley). I'm not a huge fan of their desserts, but since I wind up having to get my food on the run a lot these days and head back to the office, this place is dynamite. A couple of substantial caveats: 1) No bacon!!! 2) Unless you're a fan of pressed lunchmeat (I'm not, definitely NOT), skip the salami. Marks the first time in recent memory I've had to toss the meat out of a sandwich to eat it. 3) Also, no bacon!!! 4) Did I mention no bacon? Because, you know, no bacon!!!

Holy cow, I'm in love with Town & Country Market. What a great place. I stopped in today before the lunch rush, and was met by a host of women who stood behind the counter throwing out recommendations about which specialties I might enjoy most. After making my selections, my lunch was quickly assembled and I was on my way to the cash register where I was helped by an incredibly cordial cashier. The service alone was reason enough for a return visit. However, the food itself was out of this world! It wasn't what I was expecting to purchase today, but I couldn't NOT order a tamale bathed in chicken enchilada soup. It came highly recommended, and besides, I'm a sucker for tamales. However, after some thought, I also ordered half a turkey sandwich with avocado & sprouts. You guys. I was so full, but happy. SO HAPPY. Everything was delicious. The tamale had a perfect ratio of filling to shell. The chicken enchilada soup was an excellent complement to the tamale, and there was also corn, black beans, and cheese on top. The bread on the sandwich tasted very fresh and was phenomenal. The turkey and avocado were great, and present in exactly the right quantities. In addition to the food counter, fresh cookies, snacks, and produce are available. In hindsight I wish that I would have browsed a little instead of immediately checking out. It looks like a really cute store. Indoor seating would be a great addition to this restaurant, although I'm not sure where they could squeeze it in. I didn't really feel like going back and eating in my school's boring break room. I will be returning to T&C Market, and you should too. It definitely stands out amid South Salt Lake's diverse and delicious lunchtime destinations.

I really love this place. Sandwiches are the best here! My only complaint is that the cleanliness is a little rough. I've had a couple stomach bouts that I suspect came from the ladies not changing gloves often enough. I think they need to learn that the gloves are to protect me, not them.

From the old school "Pure Vernal Honey" sign hung from the building, to the old garage bay doors that now make up the wall, there's charm, history, character and personality oozing out of this vintage market. It's a market from a bygone era--a convenience store in function and size, but a place to pick up a cold drink and a snack at a leisurely place in practicum. They have a whole wall with cold bevvies and another fridge in the back packed with salads, boiled eggs, and other quick grab and go concoctions. I came in for a sandwich. There's an army of people behind the counter waiting to assemble your sandwich, so just belly up and when one of them gets freed up they'll call you over to take your order. My choice was a turkey on rye, which turned out to be just what I wanted. Thick slices of turkey, real swiss cheese (choose from a host of cheeses, all of which are billed as "real cheese" and not processed stuff) and a handful of breads. The rye was magnificent - just the right amount of soft crumb and an extra-chewy crust. And that caraway seed sour note that sends me reeling. Love the rye. Add in the sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles (hold the onions for me, thanks) and you've got a mouthful for $6. Take your sandwich to the counter and they'll stuff it in a paper bag and add a paper towel for your napkin pleasure. You can grab your sammich and sit outside on one of the covered picnic tables, or head home or back to the office. The lines can get long, but don't be dismayed. They get into a rhythm and it goes fast. Come for the sandwiches or soup or snack, come back to support the little guy and see what's happening in the little market. Super classic lunch spot and all around neighborhood market.

After a few more visits, I must say: this place is about as ghetto as you can get, but I don't think you can find a better traditional sandwich in SLC than you can at Town and Country. I'm sorry Grove market, but you've got nothing on this place. The sandwich ladies are a bit on the grumpy side (can you say Soup Nazi?) but their grumpiness is forgiven once you put the sweet tasty sandwich morsels in your mouth. Go check it out. Make sure to pay $0.60 extra and get the avocado.

Awesome sandwiches my personal favorite is crab and avocado. The freshest and yummiest tamales I have had yet. older store but you know it is good if the police and firefighters are always in the store.

Simple. Good. Local. Cheap. Get in line... it gets crowded at lunch time but beats the aprons off any franchise. I've been eating here for 25 years! There's nothing fancy but the sandwiches are great. The ladies behind the counter build the sandwich you want. My go to is generally a turkey avocado but I'm also a sucker for the Pastrami on Pumpernickel. When's the last time you saw pumpernickel on the menu? Love it! This little grocery carries shelved goods that you may want to complement your sandwich but a supermarket it is not. It's a sandwich shop above all. The line often extends to the front door. It rolls quickly past the soda fridges so snag your drink as you wait in line before you order. Otherwise, you may find yourself swimming upstream. ~m

With all the generic corporate sandwich joints, it is so refreshing to have a local sandwich house that not only puts out excellent food, but also has great personalities behind the counter. Love you guys.

I heart town and country. Their sandwiches are reasonably priced, huge and taste great. The lettuce is crisp, the bread is hearty and the smoked turkey tastes like it was freshly carved. I also love their soup, especially the cream of broccoli and cheddar cauliflower. I almost always get smoked turkey, but their egg salad is great too. Perfect for a tasty sammich to bring back to the office. Go early and often.

Five stars for the guy at the counter who is friendly and always says hello. Five stars for the sandwich ladies who are cranky in a famously endearing way. Five stars for the turkey and havarti sandwich on the kind of white bread that sticks to your teeth and is so white bready delicious. Five stars for the option to not only add fresh avocado to everything, but to actually buy a whole avocado if that's what you need in your life. Five stars for the pre-made salads (the crab one is my favorite) that are under 5 bucks and can be grabbed in a hungry hurry and have me back at my office in under three minutes. Five stars for the homey atmosphere. Five stars for the picnic tables out front. Five stars for the chocolate cookie with the peanuts in it. Five stars for being an institution and not bothering to change much over the years. Five stars for not really having anything that needs to be changed. Five stars for a great beverage selection which includes pink PowerAde Zero. Five stars for the parking-lot-without-lines game. Five stars for being my go-to during marathon meetings when I need to send someone to grab lunch for clients and myself so we don't kill each other. Five stars for just basically being my favorite lunch in South Salt Lake.

Officially found my go-to restaurant for lunch in SLC. Fresh, hearty turkey sandwich with some avocado, and only about 7 dollars?! Certainly worth more, but I'm not complaining. Probably returning tomorrow....
